General overview of Ahl Masr Hospital for Burn Treatment: There are 11 million people injured annually from burn accidents in the world. In Egypt Half a million burn victims annually, 50% of them are children. More than 37% lose their lives in the first 6 hours; because there are not enough equipped hospitals & emergencies to save their lives. Days after the incident, the percentage rises to 60% due to blood infection and dehydration due to malnutrition. The real challenge is that up till now there is not a single hospital specialized in treating and healing burns in the Arab region, the Middle East, and Africa in general. Now we can provide 30 burn cases with the necessary medical care in the emergency department of the hospital, which is designed with a capacity that can accommodate 30 emergency cases at the same time with the presence of qualified doctors and specialists to deal with cases of critical burns. The hospital is fully equipped with an “automation system”, which is dedicated to the implementation of most medical interventions automatically to reduce human efforts so that they could provide complete care for burn patients. The medical departments are designed in a way that allows surgical intervention as soon as possible. To minimize loss of time, and because ”it all takes one second” just one second is dispersed in rescuing burn victims, the various corridors, entrances, and exits of the hospital departments are designed to allow passage in one direction only. The rooms are medically equipped in an automatic way to quickly receive burn patients’ “systematic accommodation” and provide the required medical services in a fast manner. The hospital is equipped to allow rapid communication between members of the medical team, and integration between the hospital departments to facilitate and quickly meet the different medical needs of burn patients. A supportive environment for healing, starting with the selection of designs, colors, and music based on the principles of environmental design that supports the psychological and physical rehabilitation of burn patients. In order To be committed to the environment and social responsibility, the hospital works on a system for energy saving, reducing emissions, and relying on alternative energy.

Citizens Organization for Advocacy and Resilience (COAR) formerly known as Coordination of Afghan Relief (COAR), established in 1989, is a national NGO formally registered under the NGO laws of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, a fully non-profit, not political, not-sectarian organization, functioning under a fully democratic governance of its elected Board-of-Trustees/Board of Directors and technically operating under its Board-of-Management. COAR has a triangulated transparent accountability system, under which we report directly to the local communities/beneficiaries, donors and the Afghan government, both at local and national levels. We thus, in 2008 established Civil Society Empowerment Network (CEN) of 25 sister NGOs, mainly to synergies efforts and effectively utilize available resources for common humanitarian goals and cross-fertilize our technical capability in the field and at strategic level human rights advocacy and lobby. Indeed, we are a human rights-based organization as we strictly observe in all policies and operations: participation, empowerment, accountability, non-discrimination, equality and legitimacy. We as a civil society organization, strongly believe in human rights-based development and mandatory introduced since 2008 by the UN system. Initially COAR was operating as cross-border organization providing emergency relief in both sides Afghans in Pakistan and Afghanistan and considered as a biggest local organization operating in Afghanistan. With using the field-tested lessons from the past, COAR has built its capacity according to the needs and added various values in term of project operation and management. Currently COAR is widely involved in both semi-emergency and development activities such as Disaster Risk Reduction Management response, agriculture, livestock, health, infrastructural engineering, formal and informal education, vocational training, Media evaluation & monitoring, emergency shelter plus CSOs supporting programs and etc. In result of implementation of numerous projects in each sector, COAR has gained significant experiences in each field and built the capacity of its staff on each level of management. Heat kills close to 19,000 workers every year and causes 22.85 million occupational injuries (ILO, 2024). Yet heat stress is almost never measured where workers actually are. Weather stations and apps ignore radiant heat, the factor that turns discomfort into danger. The Humanitarian Library is a platform where humanitarian local and international knowledge is shared on a real-time basis, without the need to send it to a Library administrator. As a user-oriented resource, it is designed for both the sharing and research of humanitarian knowledge. The Humanitarian Library is the only inter-agency, inter-sector, crowd-sourced and community-moderated platform in the humanitarian space. It was launched in late 2013, so its document base is a reflection of user adoption since then. As the Library was built upon their earlier sectoral platform ‘Shelter Library’, supported by DFID/FCDO, technical content includes publications from 2005. Development of the concept was undertaken by Shelter Centre, a Geneva-based NGO focused on supporting a global humanitarian community of practice which works to address the transitional settlement and reconstruction needs of populations affected by conflicts and natural disasters. Funding for the development of the platform was provided by USAID.
